THE HOLY NULL

This piece is a fictional religious monument to The Holy Null: the endless scroll, the dissociative dissolution of Self achieved through technology. The Holy Null is the idol of blessed nothingness.

Made of poured concrete and hand painted with Miseyo Identity Theft Protection Roller motif, I use natural or primitive feeling physical mediums such as stone, rough cast metal, and beeswax to render digital themes. This is for two reasons. Firstly, technology has already outpaced our ability to understand it, and like early man did, we cope with this by resorting to superstition; using natural materials references earlier times. Secondly, because giving an idea a body makes it real. A physical object makes us confront it, and has no off switch.
